Manuscripts has no free trial. The refund window is the trial.
The short version. If Manuscripts is not for you, email us at [email protected] within 30 days of your purchase, with the email address you bought it under. We will refund you in full. No forms, no surveys, no negotiation.
Why we offer refunds instead of a trial
Manuscripts is a focused tool for academic researchers managing submissions. Whether it fits your workflow is a thing you can only really tell by using it on your actual papers. A free trial would either be too short to know, or so long it amounts to a free copy of the app. A generous refund is simpler for everyone.
So here it is: try Manuscripts for up to 30 days. If it is not for you, ask for your money back. We will not ask why.
How to request a refund
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Use the email address you bought Manuscripts under (or include the order number from your Gumroad receipt)
- That is it. You do not need to explain or justify the request.
We will process the refund through Gumroad within five business days. Gumroad typically returns funds to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after that, depending on your bank. If you have not seen the refund within three weeks of our confirmation, write back and we will look into it.
What happens to your licence after a refund
Once your refund is issued, your licence key is no longer valid. You should uninstall Manuscripts from any Macs where you installed it. Your local data on those Macs will not be touched by the uninstall. If you would like to keep an export of your data, run the export from inside the app before uninstalling.

Buying again after a refund
You are welcome to buy Manuscripts again at a later date if you change your mind. The 30-day refund window starts fresh with each purchase.
Buying on a launch promotion
Refunds are issued at the price you paid (including any launch credit or promotional discount). If you buy at launch pricing and then refund, a future purchase will be at whatever the current price is at that time.
If something has gone seriously wrong
If Manuscripts is not working for you because of a bug rather than a fit issue, please tell us before refunding. We may be able to fix it quickly. We would much rather solve a problem than lose a customer to a bug.
Outside the 30-day window
We do not generally issue refunds after 30 days. If you have an unusual circumstance (for example, your Mac becomes incompatible with the version you bought because of an OS upgrade we did not anticipate, and we cannot help you get it running), write to us and we will do what we can.
Statutory rights
This refund policy is in addition to any statutory rights you have as a consumer in your jurisdiction. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
